Cup of Knowledge

Knowledge empowers you. No other thing than knowledge does it better. The very fact that you sound confident and smart in your talks and lifestyle is because you own knowledge. Its powerful enough for One to make his living out of knowledge.

It’s a treasure that has to keep accumulating. There is a saying that you cannot compare a king and a wise man because a king is respected only in his territory but an individual with great amount of knowledge makes his mark and is respected anywhere he travels.
Wisdom, intelligence, smartness, uprightness and courage are all outcome of one’s knowledge.

We look around right from our childhood, we have conceived that education and knowledge are synonymous. In reality they go hand in hand. But unfortunately many educators do not ensure that pupils understand how to gather knowledge properly. Focus on knowledge levels of young ones is never significant due to conventional approach of education systems that has always been.

So what are the factors that need to be highlighted upon?
Let’s look at it as Cup of knowledge
CUP stands for 3 words: Curiosity, Usage and Patience.

Curiosity: is a special feature that human kind has been endowed with. The power of thought makes us ponder on certain subjects of our interest. Whenever we look at any new process we wonder how is that even possible? That’s curiosity.
Have you ever gazed at sky at night. It is enough to make one curious about how these heavenly bodies are so consistent for past millions of years? Who controls them? Is there any life out there in the universe? that’s exactly what curious questions sound like. It has a thirst for an answer and in order to quench it knowledge is indispensable. Being Curious is first step to gather knowledge which will remain with you for life. We see machines, vehicles, aircraft’s, nature any many other things whose functioning makes us wonder. Thoughts of why, how who when have created wonders in the countless fields like right from science, technology & communication to medical, archaeology, and home science and many more.
Be it at your workplace, studies or at home , ensure that you have a certain level of curiosity on a project that you are working on, for in absence of which your job will be bland. There will hardly be anything for you to look forward.

Usage: what do you do with curiosity that you develop? Make sure you go out and seek for information. Resolve what is troubling you. Kids are the most curious creatures. They find many things new and pop-up with numerous questions. This attitude disappears as they start growing up, mainly due to fear of judgements.
It is important to know that talking leads to resolving. Not questioning and not getting clarifications on your doubts is a touchdown for missing the route to the treasure of knowledge.
Once you get the answer its vital to probe into its truthfulness, understand its practical implications and benefits it has. Next step is how can you use this knowledge gained to your benefit and later to benefit the society at large. Usage of knowledge is a gradual process and involves a lot of commitment on the part of the doer. Having a trustworthy mentor by your side at this stage can do a great deal of difference to your life and also to understand how you perceive your job upon which you are currently working. Gathering of all information is of no use unless its applied to make a difference in your life for your progress. Because knowledge which resides in books is as useless as your wealth in someone else’s possession.0

Patience: Looking at the accessibility nowadays, we can say that to a certain extent knowledge acquiring has become relatively convenient. But efforts are requisite. Not just efforts, but efforts combined with patience. One needs to wait to see efforts fructify. It takes patience to assimilate knowledge in order to make your level of wisdom stronger.
If you believe you are meant to rule the because you are the most intelligent then you end up failing due to lack of patience.
A courageous man will never expect a seed sown to become a tree bearing fruits the next day. In goes watering, nourishing it with manure, protecting it from any dangers and of course, patience to have it grown. Grown so big that it not only serves needs of the planter but many others. An impatient would leave the same seed without putting any efforts assuming that its useless or plants are taking time to grow and move on only to repeat the entire process somewhere else right from the scratch. This will waste his time. Here, in spite of having curiosity and taking steps towards putting the knowledge into usage it all gets futile due to negativity and thoughts of withdrawal.

To hold on to this Cup of knowledge there are certain virtues. In absence of these virtues the cup might feel heavy to hold on.

  1. Knowing what to learn and willingness to learn it
  2. Honesty to admit that you are unaware
  3. Being open to feedback
  4. Staying motivated
  5. Being courageous to work hard and smart
  6. Saying no to distractors

Once you hold the cup of firmly, no one can stop you from relishing a sip from it. This SIP is nothing but Success, Interest and Personality.
As an outcome of undergoing through this wonderful journey of gathering knowledge, you learn many things. These are add-ons apart from the knowledge that you actually were seeking.
Let nothing make you fall apart.
